Is it a model 500 pump action? If so, or for that matter with most shoguns, you unscrew the cap over the magazine tube. Place the butt of the gun on a low table or other solid surface with the fore end at a reasonable height. Do this AFTER ensuring the gun is unloaded and it is on safe. Now, turn the cap on the end of the mag tube counter clockwise to unscrew it. Then remove it and set it asside. Now you should be able to pull up on the barrel which will allow the barrel ring to clear the mag tube. Then you twist the barrel to free the guides and pull it free. Good luck.
Your question can't be answered as written. What Model? What are ALL the markings? What gauge? How long is the barrel? What type of finish? Mossberg 500C, 20 gauge, 26" accu-choke, serial number K064007, checkered wood stock, blued barrel, vented rib barrel.
Yes. The Mossberg 500A1 is a .12 gauge shotgun.
If you are talking about the 50 caliber muzzle loader barrel for the Mossberg 12 gauge Shotgun model 500 or the Maverick 88 - you can't remove the breech plug. You have to clean the barrel like a flintlock. I just bought one from Mossberg's web page (arrived yesterday 12/21/08). It didn't come with any instructions. Fortunately, I found the manuals online at the following addresses: Muzzle Loader Barrel http://www.mossbergs.com/manuals/Muzzleloader.pdf 12 Gauge Shotgun Model 500 http://pdf.textfiles.com/manuals/FIREARMS/mossberg_500.pdf Good Luck
If it is a double, remove barrel and you will see it along with serial #.

Yes, the Mossberg?æ500 20 gauge ammunition can be used in the Mossberg .410 model. To find out if ammunition will fit, the Mossberg company stamps the size needed on the side of the barrel.
The value of a Mossberg Model 500e 410 gauge shotgun overages between $200 and 300. The actual value of the shotgun is largely determined by its overall condition.
Mossberg!AnswerSeveral different companies made 12 gauge pumps for Western Field. You must provide the model number, which should be stamped on the barrel or receiver of the shotgun. G072293
