There are many different ways to masturbate. I will cover the Male masturbation seeing as how I am male and don't feel comfortable trying to explain female masturbation, as I have no experience with it.

-w/o lube- Hold your penis in your hand (whichever is dominant) and roll the skin (whether you were circumcised or not) over the head. Note that every penis is different and for some the head is not the most sensitive place. You will have to experiment and find your own sensitive spots. Speed is also variable. Also note that if you feel pain or discomfort you probably should try a different method.

-w/ lube- Much the same way as w/o only instead of rolling the skin over the head you would just move your hand (wrapped around the penis) up and down over the length of your shaft and over the head.

Some people Masturbate with two hands instead of one, but I can't comment on that as I have no experience with it.

In the end there is no right or wrong way to masturbate. Whatever stimulates you to orgasm without being a social problem is good.

You shouldn't masturbate for recreation purposes or more than your body can handle. Stop immediately if you are in pain or feel uncomfortable. Masturbation should only be done if you feel extreme sexual tension and should always end in climax. Don't masturbate whenever you shower or in during any activity that could lead to a habit.
