To reduce swelling while your fresh tongue piercing is healing, a combo of techniques should be employed. Sucking on ice can be a huge help by itself. Combine this with an anti-inflammatory such as ibuprofen will keep discomfort to a minimum. Also, to prevent irritation, water down your Listerine to half water, half mouth wash. Pure Listerine is much too strong for a fresh wound and can cause irritation and delay healing. Also, make sure to rinse your mouth out with cool water after drinking anything with sugar in it, or snacking.
