There's nothing magic in weight loss. If the stuff that you eat contains more energy than you use up you'll gain weight - if what you eat has less energy than what you use up you will lose weight, end of story.

In theory you can lose weight simply by exercising more, but the foods that we have available today are so high in calories that it's almost impossible to counter a bad diet by exercising more. Working off a single cupcake will probably take you something like 45 minutes hard exercise.

The good news is that a diet doesn't have to be that special. You need to cut the fats and the sugars, and to control your serving size. But apart from that you can eat very regular-looking meals.
