Your question is somewhat vague. WHAT do you want to look up? To see if a gun is stolen? You cannot do that- the database (NCIC) is restricted to law enforcement. However, check with your local police to see if they will check. Want to see when a gun was made? No one answer. For some makes, there are public databases and reference books. Some makers will have that available on their website (Ruger, Browning). For some, there is no information.

If there is no serial number, it is a 1960's model-up to 1968. In 1968 a law was passed requiring all guns to have a serial number.

If you have the serial number you can look up the code or have someone look it up for you. If you do not know the serial number then you will have to take out your radio as the number is on the back of the radio.
