How do you know if you're stoned?

I hate to tell you "you'll just know," but it's really the truth. The effects of marijuana are a bit different for everybody, so I can't tell you what it will be like for you.

The first time I smoked pot, I did not get high at all. I remember thinking, "Am I high right now? Is this being high?" Basically, if you're not sure whether or not you're high, then you aren't.

The second time I smoked pot, I got so high. It was actually scary. Every 2-dimensional object started looking 3-dimensional, and every 3-dimensional object starting looking 2-dimensional. If I'd been at somebody's house, just hanging out, it probably wouldn't have been so terrifying. But I was at the barn/horse stable that I worked and rode at, and there were people and horses running around everywhere, and everything was just way too intense. I felt like I was walking around in a cartoon, or in some sort of dream world.

And the worst part was, I was alone. My friend had given me the pot for a 16th birthday present, and we smoked it in the woods near the barn. She was an experienced pot smoker, so she was fine, and she had an hour-long riding lesson to go to, so she had to leave me wandering around the stables by myself. Which, as I said, was terrifying. Not only was I having trouble distinguishing between 2-dimensional objects and 3-dimensional ones, but I was also completely paranoid. I was convinced that everyone at the stable knew I was high, and that they were just waiting to come over and tell me to leave and never come back. Of course, none of that happened.

The first dozen or so times you get high are very intense, but after that, you start to feel more comfortable and more in control of yourself when you're high. So, since the first few times you get high are so intense, I don't think you could possibly not realize that you're high. You'll know.

Edited to add: I have a friend who did not get high until the 9th or 10th time she smoked, literally. For a time, she just thought she was immune to marijuana or something. And then one day, like me, she got so high. And from then on (like me), she got high every time. So, I think pretty much everyone will get high eventually, if they keep on smoking pot.
