For 1.0.0-1.0.2 (which you probably don't have):

Go to iphone.nullriver.com/beta/ and download AppTapp for iPhone. I do not know if it will work with iPod, but it's worth a try. Open AppTapp and click the button to jailbreak your iPod/iPhone.
