I found that biological washing powder at a high temperature works best at removing menstrual blood. Sometimes a couple of washes is needed before all the stains are removed.
If the blood is fresh, it helps to make a thick paste using a spoonful of bio washing powder and a little water and rubbing it into the stain and then leaving it for an hour before the wash. I don't suggest doing this with delicate items of clothing.
Whiteners and stain removers are another possibility, but always be careful to read the instructions if it is a delicate item of clothing.
