Hold the sleep button until it says 'slide to power off' and then slide the red box to the right.
The button on top turns the iphone on. It will say 'Slide to unlock' on the screen when you've turned it on. You slide your finger across and the iphone will unlock unless you've put a password on it. However if you wonder about the technology, they basicaly use the technology from Android, which is a touch screen making company, making some of the best touch screen phones, Iphones, means you are refering to apple, Android has better battery life howver, but apple has better apps, so its a slight trade off, Hope i helped, Pliskin132
press the top button in the upper left corner and then slide the arrow on the screen that appears that says "slide to unlock". If this doesn't work press home button and slide the arrow across the screen.
Hold down the Lock/Power button and the home button simultaneously for a few seconds until the "slide to power off" slider bar comes up. Swipe the red slider button across the bar. The iPhone will turn off. When the screen goes dark, hold the Lock/Power button until the Apple logo shows up.

If you are using iOS 7/8 then you go to the bottom of the screen and slide up. This should pull up icons. You need to select the flashlight icon to turn it on or off.
