Don't try. Always have a private space - your bedroom, perhaps - and go there with a book, magazine, music, or whatever you like to occupy your time. Or go for a walk. There is no point antagonizing a resentful or just plain talkative teenager; they want and need your attention and if they feel rejected they'll try all the harder to get through to you. Just politely tell them you're going off to read, and you'll catch up later. Don't be nasty or spiteful, it'll only come back at you. The behavior you teach them now is the behavior they will act out with you and others in the future. So be calm, kind, respectful, and temporarily not there. If you are the teenager's little brother or sister, I'd suggest that you don't try anything. They are bigger so they could do something to you. If you are the teenager's bigger sister or brother, just leave them alone, I bet you were annoying when you were that age. If you are the mother or father, you are in charge. Usually, girl teenagers are more annoying.
