You can only remove photo albums that you put up yourself. Go into Edit Photos, and delete all the photos, this will give you a prompt that says "this album is empty. Do you want to delete this album?" select yes. If the prompt doesn't show up, there is an icon in the upper right hand corner that says "delete album".
