As an iPod Touch user, I have found out how to download-and-play songs on-air without the use of iTunes. Apple has not yet released such a function, and the program is not approved by Apple Inc. The requirements to run such a program is to "jailbreak" (hack) your iPod Operating System with specific programs around the web, and through software which exists on your iPod right after the jailbreak, you download the program. For both copyright and legal issues, I cannot write down neither the jailbreak method, nor the program to download the songs. The only thing that i can do, is to redirect you to www.ipodtouchfans.com . Hope this helped.

No, downloading iTunes on your iPod is completely free. However, the songs, videos, and other things that you download from iTunes are not free.
You can download on the itunes icon on you ipod or you can connect to computer and then put in a cd. You can then transfer the songs. It is legal.
You do not have to buy songs from the iTunes store. You can use songs from any source and use the iTunes software to manage the music on your iPod. Some retailers, such as Amazon, provide their own download software which will automatically add songs from Amazon to the iTunes library. Songs can also be imported from CDs that you own.
plug your ipod to the computer, open itunes, select Music and manually transfer the song to the ipod
