The Mossberg 46A is a bolt-action rifle that was first introduced in 1947. It was designed for use with .22 Long Rifle cartridges and was popular for its accuracy and reliability. The "S" in the model name indicates a sporter type, while "L" and "LR" refer to its use with .22 Long and .22 Long Rifle ammunition, respectively. Production of the Mossberg 46 series continued into the early 1960s.
