commitment. you need to develop a reputation for being honest and punctual. if you say that you will be going to the pub at 7, be at the pub at 7. always give your honest opinion and if the honest opinion will hurt them, either try to change the subject or tell them in the kindest way possible the truth.
Also learn the read the person you want to trust you. when you are able to tell their emotional state easily, react accordingly to it. if they seem troubled or hurt go and help them.
and most importantly if anyone tells you a secret, don't tell it. not to anyone. ESPECIALLY the person you want to trust you. why should they ever trust you with a secret when you haven proven that you cant keep one.
