On the left side of the barrel there should be two stamped letters and a number. The first letter is the month code and the second letter is the year code. The Remington Society website http://www.remingtonsociety.com contains a page that contains a listing of the date codes and their corresponding months and years. For example, I have a model 514 that has no serial number and its date code letters are X M. X means it was manufactured during the month of December. Since there is no serial number on my rifle, I may safely assume that it was produced prior to 1968. The M can either be 1921 or 1965. Since the model 514 was not introduced until the late 1940s, I know my rifle was manufactured during December, 1965.

Just making a guess that your rifle may be a Remington, they are not dated by serial number, but by a 2 or 3 letter code stamped on the barrel. These are very small letters, on the left side of the barrel, about 1/2 inch from the frame.
There would be to many combinations to include in this answer.the Remington model 514 was made from 1948-1971. Look at related links for a explaination and table on the Remington Society of America.
Impossible to answer without a detailed description and the serial number.
50-300
75-150 based on condition
All guns from that early doesnt have a serial number since serial numbers weren't introduced until 1968 when the gca (gun control act) took effect. The only way to trace the gun is through the month and year it was manufactured. Remington models have a small letter written infron of two bigger letters on the barrel. Mine has a small c and two big Y's. The c represents the month it was made using the following code B L A C K P O W D E R X B represents January, l represents February, a represents April and so on. I'll attach a link to the info I found. htt ps: //ww w.remingtonsociety .org/manufacture-dates/
