Not true. You must take the following actions:
1) On the "Friends - See all friends screen"
Click the "Request" link on the left hand side
2) For each request, click "Not Now" next to the request
3) Refresh the screen, and a link appears at the bottom that says "See 1 hidden request". Click that link
4) On that hidden request, there is a button which says "Delete Request"
Click the delete request button and then it will be deleted.
