'Ton' is the 'Imperial' measure of 'Mass/Weight'.

The only connecting equation is

density = mass/ volume.

So without knowing the substance and its density , it is impossible to convert mass / to volume.

Oil is less dense, specfic gravity could be 0.7 or 0.8.

Rock is denser, specific gravity perhaps 5.
