It's really not as hard as everyone thinks to convert a 10 rd m1a magazine to feet a 700 Remington 308. I have just finished this conversion myself. Magazine was 25$ filing down the mag to fit the stock took about a minute. The internal magazine that comes stock is almost exactly the same size as the m1a mag. Just square the corners of the edges a bit. File down the top of the tabs on the mag that hold the rounds in the mag until the bolt grabs the bullet rim enough. Not to far or the bullets won't stay in the mag. Have a machine shop make a new trigger guard with a latch to release the mag. M1a mags require two contact points to hold the mag in place. Have the machine shop make u a new spacer for the front action bold that has a square 1/4"wide by 3/16 tall and patrudes 1/16" into the magazine. This will have to b filed for precise fitting later. Basicly that's it. It cost me less than 200$ between the mag machining paint. took me about 4hrs of my time. The 2nd mag I made took 15 mins. Feeds flawlessly looks awesome also. Good luck if u r going for it.
