click on the button that says signout... and if you want to delete it then click on the settings and then click on Account Settings and then click at the option that's in the end stating Deactivate the account.... click on that and enter your password fr the last time... and it would be closed forever...

However, facebook will retain ALL of your information (friends list, pictures, etc) for 2-3 weeks after deactivation.

If you want all of this information removed permanantly you must stay away from facebook 100% for a month. If you return to facebook just to look at it, or click on "like" buttons for facebook anywhere on the web than facebook believes it should retain your information and keeps extending the deactivation time.

If you do not touch facebook or any facebook related links for a month than they will eventually delete your deactivated account.

If you constantly go back to look or interact with facebook links on other websites, your deactivated account may remain in existence for a very long time.
