Most Portable DVD players will charge the battery as long as it is plugged into the wall. The best bet is to go too the manufacturers website and see if they have a downloadable instruction manual.
The majority of portable dvd players do plug into the lighter outlet or other charger outlet. Check it before you buy. If it doesn't have one with it, you can always purchase a charger to use.
