You can change back to the old Email easily. The old email was the basic HTML one. You can configure it in the settings.

this is something you cant do on pearl but you can do it on your ds on the settings there you can change your date and it will change on your pearl too but be shure to change it back cause its a little anoying when you dont now the it is ;-)
There is a little button on the back. Press it down until it blinks. Then use the scroller on top. When you are done push the button again
