You change by wanting to change.

Here are some ideas:

  • Make a list of everything you want to change and write down what you want to do instead of the old stuff - post that list where you can see it every day to remind yourself
  • Think of ways to change - brainstorm how you're going to do it
  • Make a reward system for yourself - whenever you succeed in doing the new stuff, pick something that you like as a reward, such as "If I go for a week without smoking I will use the money I would have spent on cigarettes and go to that new movie I want to see"
  • Get your friends and family involved - tell them what you're trying to change and ask them to give you encouragement (not nagging)
