A simple measure is body mass index (BMI). This is your weight (in kg) divided by your height (in metres) squared - i.e. BMI = h/w^2. A healthy BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9. Lower than 18.5 indicates underweight and over 24.9 is overweight. This measure neglects how muscular the person is. Muscle is more dense than fat so athletes who train regularly and have low body fat levels and more muscle may have a higher BMI but still be healthy.
