After you have redeemed your code from an iTunes gift card, then the amount specified on the card will be ready to spend in iTunes. To buy apps, you go to the app store icon, and find an app and select it. On the app page you should see a button on the top right of the page next to the name of the app that shows the price (on any unpaid app it says free). Tap on the price and it then asks if you want to download it. Tap it again to purchase the app, input your Apple ID password and the app will begin downloading.
