I have a first model .32 and a third model .38 , and both are hard to open . The .32 is easier . Get a firm grip on the barrel with your left hand and the grip with your right. Place you right thumb on the small button just behind the rear sight ( it's checkered and is located just forward of where the hammer would be on a more modern revolver). Push down and slightly rearward on the button with your thumb and at the same time , break the barrel open like you were trying to break a stick in half. With a little practice it gets easier. When I bought my .38 , the gunsmith had trouble getting it open , so don't feel like you're the only one.
