First, double check to make sure the pistol is unloaded (both magazine removed and chamber empty). Cock hammer. Retract slide enough to align the circular end of the slide stop (located above serial number) with the notch in the slide. Push the slide stop out from the other side of the pistol, and remove it from the frame. Pull slide forward and off frame. Next, with the slide upside down, carefully remove the guide rod and recoil spring. Next, twist the barrel bushing (the piece on the front of the slide that keeps the barrel in place) counter clockwise and pull forward out of slide. Then remove barrel from slide.
Assembly is in reverse order. Be careful putting the recoil spring/guide rod back on, as it rests on a tiny notch in the barrel and can easily slip and shoot across the room (fast enough to break a window or put your eye out). Another point of interest are the ejector and other "levers" that stick up from the frame, you must hold these down when putting the slide back on the frame.
Good luck and enjoy your 659. I sure like mine!
