Well, I'm a girl, I think, even if you don't want her "to know she's being asked" you should just be friendly to her, treat her with respect, If you've met her just recently, you shouldn't really kiss her in my opinion, just be nice and friendly. Then when you're close friends just take her out to a movie or restaurant or Bowling - something friendly not a "date". Then ask her but cover it up as a joke. I think it'll work :O
