I can say this with confidence, because I used it myself. On your "Home" page on Facebook, look at the top right hand side to see an arrow next to the "Home" button. Click on the arrow and select "Account Settings" from the drop-down menu. On the left side, choose "Security Settings". On this page, look at the left, just beneath the settings block to see a link "Deactivate Account" and click on it. This will take you to a page where you can select a reason for deactivation, and fill this out. Next put in your Facebook password and type in the catch phrase supplied. You will receive a message and an e-mail confirming your deletion from Facebook You go to the account tab that you would usually log out from in the top right corner. Then you click 'account settings'. you have to confirm your log in before it lets you continue. Once you've done that there is a list of things and at the bottom there is a thing that says deactivate account and click on it and that should do it!
