Lets understand the issue of being tongue tied, tongue tied means having and over developed frenial web connecting the bottom of the tongue to the bottom of the mouth. If this web is too long and reached the tip of the tongue then tongue piercing can't be done safely. Piercing the tongue to one side of the web or the other will not resolve the issue and can only cause further oral health issues down the road.

The only way to get a tongue that is "tongue tied" pierced is to see an oral surgeon and have a frenectomy done. This is where the frenial web is cut back so the tongue appears to be the same as a normally developed tongue. This procedure is expensive and is generally not done unless the web is causing other issues for the individual like impairing speech.

Tongues are generally pierced three quarters of an inch back from the tip of the tongue. The barbell is sized by the piercer to allow for swelling and freedom of movement and will need to be shortened after two weeks post piercing to prevent dental damage and gum regression. Piercing the tongue any further ahead will cause issues with dental damage and gum regression.

Any one who has or believes they have a tied tongue should consult with there doctor and dentist before considering getting a tongue piercing. Not every piercer knows how to handle these situations so you need to know you are dealing with a truly experienced body piercer and not some novice who hasn't got the experience of training to handle this form of piercing properly.

Aftercare for the tongue piercing is the same regardless of the tongue in question, these instructions will be given to you by your professional body piercer verbally as well as in writing.

An teenanger girl wants to get her tongue pierced i heard that being pierced in tongue will cause cancer is it true?

I've never heard that. 3 of my best friends have their tongues pierced and don't seem to show any signs of cancer and i don't think a tongue piercing would be so common if it was known to have cancer.

Can you get a paralysed tongue from piercing it?

I have never heard of a tongue becoming paralysed as a result of being pierced, however, there are real medical risks. The mouth is an environment with a high germ content, and piercing the tongue does create a route for possible infection, and that infection can have serious consequences, so from a medical perspective I would advise people not to pierce their tongues. Earlobes are much safer. (And if your earlobe were to become paralysed, you wouln't even notice, would you?)

Which ear should you get pierced if you are not gay?

I have heard that in some social circles, a pierced right ear on a man indicates that he is gay, while a left earring indicates that he is a sailor (or just fashionable). Both ears pierced on a man doesn't tend to imply anything. Straight men may also opt for nipple piercings, tongue piercings, nose piercings, etc, without having people think they're gay. In other words, if you're male and really concerned that people will think of you as gay, avoid the right ear.
