I guess one could argue the "perceived" recoil on a 1100 might be less because of the auto-loading mechanism might distribute recoil to other parts or lengthen the time for the same impact period but
being their weight is also nearly identical I would say they are really the same. How bad is subjective and also depends on caliber, load, etc. BUT if someone hasn't taught you how to hold a shotgun up tight it'll beat the heck out of you.
NO
No. The 11-87 has a recoil spring & tube in the stock, the 870 uses a single bolt.
No, the Remington Model 1100 stock has a hole (recepticle) through the inside of the stock in the pistol grip area to accept the action spring tube. The Remington Model 870 stock has no need for this hole so the 870 stock will not fit on the Model 1100 action.
The modern shotgun will have a sharper recoil than the black powder. The recoil force will vary depending on the particular loading, but will tend to be heavier.
NO. But both these barrels are easy to remove and replace and there is a wide selection of factory or aftermarket replacement choices available for both guns.
The 870 is a pump action shotgun. The 1100 and the 11-87 are the two standard Remington semi-auto shotguns. In 2008 Remington introduced an 870 with Pheasant and Duck engraving and a semi-fancy claro walnut stock. This was a premier dealer gun. http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/premier_dealer_exclusives/model_870_wingmaster.asp
Sorry, no answer from me, but I would like to know the answer to this question as well.
Remington 700's are center fire rifles. Remington does make a very good 12 guage shot gun called the 870 (pump) and the 1100 (auto)- those are the popular ones i have both
the express is the cheaper model Remington came out with. There are many more models like the tactical ones and the wingmaster. The wingmaster is one of the better quality models.
Remington does not show a 870 rifle on their web site. Do you mean the 870 Shotgun? the Remington 870 is one of the most popular shotguns in the us. this shotgun ranges from $300 for the basic model to $1000 for the fancy Wingmaster edition
