A Very common question i get from female friends.

Why do i still have feelings for him/her after such a terrible relationship?

Its quite complicated and differs from men to women.

For Women, (forgive me if im not very experienced on the female side of emotions)

It can be certaion factors, one is excitement,

A loving steady relationship is a wonderful thing, but A volatile LOVE/HATE Relationship can produce excitement, This is because of the 2 extremes,

1 DAY of utter devotion then 1 of utter hell, the excitement, usually from making up can keep women hooked.

Another is low self esteem. This goes for men aswell,

If your ex was abusive in ANY WAY! (physically, mentally,sexually and in most cases Verbally) This can lead to you feelin worthless and ugly, this dominance creates a dependency on your ex as your terrified that without him/her you will be alone.

(WHICH IS NOT THE CASE)

Everyone is Beautiful in their own way, whether your a size 4 or size 40! it doesnt matter!

Finally,

If this was quite a long term relationship you may feel out of touch with finding another relationship.

The fear that you wont be able to find someone can again lead to your dependence on him/her.

The important thing to remember after such a tough relationship is not to rush into anything. Lots of people, (especially Males) will jump at the first chance after a break-up. Although this can help self-esteem it is not a good idea.

My best Advice is just Lay back, forget about relationships and depend on your friends for a while, Someone special will eventually come your way.
