Some argue that the threat of nuclear weapons deters countries from engaging in large-scale conflicts, thereby maintaining world peace. However, the possession of nuclear weapons also introduces the risk of accidental use, escalation, or non-state actors acquiring them, which can undermine world peace. Ultimately, nuclear weapons alone cannot guarantee world peace and must be complemented by diplomacy, cooperation, and conflict resolution.
We should stop the spread of nuclear weapons because they pose a significant threat to global security and stability. The use of nuclear weapons can have catastrophic consequences on human life and the environment, making it crucial to prevent their proliferation. Additionally, focusing on disarmament efforts can help promote peace and reduce the risk of nuclear warfare.
While nuclear weapons have the potential to cause massive destruction, it is unlikely that they could destroy the entire world. However, a large-scale nuclear war could have catastrophic consequences for civilization, causing widespread devastation, loss of life, and long-term environmental impacts. Efforts to prevent the use of nuclear weapons are crucial for global security and peace.
Albert Einstein's fears included the potential misuse of scientific advancements to cause harm, as well as the spread of nuclear weapons and their destructive capabilities. He also expressed concern about the rise of nationalism and the threat it posed to global peace and cooperation.
The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) uses various methods to advocate for nuclear disarmament, including lobbying governments, conducting awareness-raising campaigns, organizing protests and demonstrations, collaborating with other peace organizations, and engaging in legal actions to challenge nuclear weapons policies. They also work to educate the public about the dangers of nuclear weapons and the benefits of disarmament through conferences, publications, and public speaking engagements.
Dismantling nuclear weapons can reduce the risk of accidental or intentional nuclear war, prevent escalation of conflicts, and encourage other countries to follow suit in disarmament efforts. If the majority of the members of the United Nations or the majority of nations that sit on the UN's Security Council believe that another nation acquiring nuclear weapons is a serious threat to world peace, economic sanctions can be set against such a nation. The UN can also send in inspectors to determine if a nation is becoming a threat to world peace because of it building a nuclear weapons system. If all the members of the UN's Security Council vote to sanction trade or funds of a threatening nation, that sends a powerful message to the offending nation.
Bombing of Hanoi is one, not sure about the other... The threat of nuclear weapons, perhaps?
Because the nuclear weapons will not bring peace they will just bring more and more war and that will definitely not solve any problems.
War is part of the human condition. We started by throwing rocks and beating each other with sticks. Every time a new technology is developed people declare that it will be the weapon that will end the ability to wage war because the cost of hate has gone up to an unacceptable level. I know of several examples the recurve bow, gunpowder, crossbows, rifles, machine guns, flame throwers, napalm, and now nuclear weapons. Nuclear weapons give cause to the war mongers to seek diplomatic and covert solutions rather than to go head to head with your opponent. But nuclear weapons have nothing whatever to do with world peace because if it did people would have already stopped shooting at each other after the first nuclear weapons were used back in 1945. In the end nuclear weapons are just another crossbow, capable of killing hundreds of thousands of people at a time. Non combatants have always born the heaviest toll of war, now the warmongers can kill us faster.

Nuclear weapons serve as a deterrent. One country will be less likely to attack another that it knows has nuclear capability because of the destruction that could be wrought by nuclear weapons. This theory is called MAD or Mutually Assured Destruction, meaning that both sides would destroy each other so utterly by going to war that peace (even bitter cold peace) is the only viable option. Biological and Chemical weapons, which are also called weapons of mass destruction, do not have this deterrent effect.
