No, since there's no such thing as a sterile piercing gun. Their guns are made of plastic, and CANNOT BE STERILIZED. They put a sterile piercing in it and pierce you with that (MUCH more traumatic, due to its shape, than a needle by the way...) but the gun itself can never be put into an autoclave machine and thus cannot be sterilized. It can shoot bits of debris (read: bits of blood/flesh of previous people) a foot or more through the air, and technically/potentially give you hepatitis. The CDC (Center for Disease Control) does NOT endorse piercing guns, for this reason. For more information, just Google something like "Piercing guns suck". The AAP (American Association of Professional Piercers) and BMEZine (hugest resource on body modification) opposes them too.
You probably can but don't. They use piercing guns which are HORRIBLE especially for cartilage piercings. It can shatter your cartilage because of the pressure. Not to mention how disgusting they are. The only way to clean them is to wipe them down which means that the insides are filled with sweat, blood, skin, dirt and anything else that happens to get in there. You're more likely to get infections from guns and places that use guns are known fro having low quality jewelery that breaksdown in your ears.
You can only use a New needle for piercing. and they are sterilized in a lab.
If the needle isn't sterile and you are the only one to use it, you could get an infection. If the needle isn't sterile and other people have used it, you could get an infection or diseases as bad as AIDS
Claire's don't perform piercings, they use piercing guns. If you want to get a piercing then go to a studio with a professional piercing using the correct and safe equipment.
No. Some of them might, but a majority will not pierce anything other than earlobe or cartilage. They use a gun for piercings, which cannot be used on the body.
because the needles are not sterile, the proper sharpness nor the proper gauge. This is an easy way to get an infected, crooked and not to mention Painful piercing.
Absolutely, if your piercer is not wearing one time use sterile gloves go to somebody else....Universal precautions {sterile environment, covered surfaces and sterile jewelry, one time use needles etc. etc.} are a MUST...Hope this helps Gloves are not only used to protect the person who is getting the piercing, they are to protect the piercer as well. If a piercing bleeds, you do not want a transfer in blood from the piercee to the piercer. It is not healthy for either person if the piercer does not wear gloves.
Nope! They only do ear piercings on the lobes and cartilage's. Nothing that requires a actually needle. Just things that they can use those disposable guns on.
It is recommended to use non-toxic, food-safe glue that is specifically designed for oral use when gluing a piercing on your tongue. Ensure that the glue is clean and sterile to prevent infection or irritation. It is best to consult with a professional piercer for guidance on attaching the piercing.
A piercing gun takes a blunt stud and fires it into the earlobe, essentially this is like branding cattle. As piercing guns cannot be cleaned they risk infection and blood born diseases, jewelry used can cause irritation and allergic reaction, they can also misfire. Furthermore no piercer would ever use a gun, piercing studio staff are trained for a reason and understand that piercing guns are dangerous, thus the only people who would use such tools are not trained and so pose high risk of misuse.
Technically they say that the piercing is free and you have to pay for the jewelery. But since they use guns, they have to use the jewelry to pierce your ears. So, ultimately, you do have to pay. If I were you, I wouldn't go to claires. They aren't professionals and guns are HORRIBLE. I could rant on this forever but just do some google searches and I"m sure that you won't use a gun.
A gun with a needle like they use on ears. This is absolutely wrong! And actually, you shouldn't get your ears pierced with a gun either, because guns do not come apart, and thus cannot be properly sterilized. Also, at least in the US, working a piercing gun does not make you a licensed piercer. (Claire's, Icing, the Piercing Pagoda, and many other jewelry stores have each of their employees "trained" on using a piercing gun. Many people I know have gone back to a professional piercer to get their ears fixed.) A tongue piercing is done by using a clamp to hold the tongue in place and provide guidance for the piercing needle. The piercing needle (which should be opened from a sterile pack in front of you) is then slowly but firmly pushed through the tongue, while the piercer pays close attention to your body language to make sure no nerves are damaged during the process. If you really want the full details, call your local licensed piercer, and he or she should be able to give you all the info you need. If not, that's not the person you want poking holes in you!
