Yes, but only because you are able to consume more of it at once. You can bake an entire eighth of weed (one-eighth of an ounce) into one big cookie. You'll eat it all at once, and it will hit you all at once.

You can't smoke a whole eighth of weed at once. You just can't smoke that much, that fast. It makes you cough really hard; it makes your lungs tighten up. You just can't smoke it as fast as you can eat it, since smoking too much, too fast is very unpleasant, with all the painfully racking coughs, and the tightness in your lungs.
