I remember the toy. My sister had one when we were kids. As I recall, the "oven" was white plastic molded in a shape that was more reminiscent of a wood-burning stove with some sort of canopy or shelf that was set up above the black plastic "range." There was a small hole in the center of the "burner" molded into the range; that was where a drop of clear oil (from a small plastic squeeze bottle included with the oven) was introduced. My memory is a little fuzzy on the actual mechanism that produced the "steam." I think there must have been a heating element inside the toy (powered by batteries?) that "cooked" the oil and created vapor that resembled wispy puffs of steam. I'm more certain that the set included some plastic pots and pans that one could place on the burner to complete the pretend cooking. There may even have been some plastic food supplied ; I dimly remember fried eggs that fit in the frying pan. As I write this, it occurs to me that the canopy or shelf above the oven might have been designed to hold the pots and pans.
