No you do not have to pay any kind of monthly fee for the iPod touch although I'm not sure about the iPad I don't think so but DONT TAKE MY WORD FOR IT you have to pay money for any kind of phone though exept those little tracfones
No, is the general answer for any non-contract 'phone service, almost by definition. The alternative to a contract is Pay As You Go, and as the name implies you pay as much as you wish when you wish, although it's obviously sensible to maintain a balance sufficient for your likely needs. However some if not all companies insist that you make a minimum number of calls in, say, 6 months, to keep the number "alive". If you don't use your portable telephone very often, as I don't, you have to remember to do this!

I've just had a quick look at their web-site - and as far as I can see, all you pay is an annual fee of £60+VAT or a monthly fee of £5.99+VAT. There is no contract as such - but you may lose money if you cancel early after paying the annual fee !
