A hardcopy is a physical printout of a document or file, while a softcopy refers to an electronic version of the same document or file usually displayed on a screen, such as a computer monitor or smartphone. Hardcopies can be physically held and stored, while softcopies are stored digitally and can be easily edited and shared electronically.

Hard copy exmpl: printed copy of a dictionary.

Soft copy is seeing it on a computer screen but you can't actually hold all the pages in your hand for there are none to hold.

Therefore a hard copy is tangible and a soft copy is not.
