Fender started using serial numbers in the early 1950s. Pre-serial guitars are extremely rare. Later model guitars that have no serial may have had the neck replaced.
A Gibson's serial number is on the back of the headstock.
Serial numbers allow for dating when produced.
Gallgher guitars have been made since 1965. 'They maintain a register of the model number, the serial number, who got the guitar and when it left the shop. All the guitars are documented and the serial numbers are stamped on the neck block, along with the model number. As a rough guide, "S" stands for "Seventies", "E" for "Eighties" and "N" for "Nineties" but there is some overlap. They started producing "E" numbered guitars in 1979 but were still producing guitars with "S" numbers in 1981.
For the most part,deduct the first 2 numbers of the serial number from the year 2000,and that will be the year of production of your Marlin model 60w.
well the serial number isn't there that you've got so my advice send Gibson an email and see what they say. They respond very quickly.
