If you are 8 days late it is worth doing a home pregnancy test to be sure. However please keep in mind that many things can delay your period other than just pregnancy like an infection or stress. If you test and it is negative I would suggest you wait a week and if you still haven't started then repeat the test. Also be alert at how early the test can register( some are as low as 50 mui and others dont register til you are at 200mui si test sensitivity is a big issue when testing so early.
