That depends upon location. Tiles can be installed on a gypsum board wall or ceiling. (But make sure that the tiles are well grouted; if moisure gets past the tile into the gypsum board, it will be damaged.) Floors require greater strength - but then, you wouldn't normally have a gypsum board floor, with or without tile.
It is best to remove the vinyl tile. If it is not on cement and is on wood you can install cement backer board. Be sure to put thin set under the board. If you spend the money and time to install ceramic tile and the vinyl tile comes loose all that $ is down the drain What is the best tile cement to use and this cement tile can be installed on vinyl tile and install ceramic tile on it
I would get advice from a professional. I suspect that the cement backed board (plaster board?) would crack and turn to powder under the flexing as people walk across the floor.
Being competent in math is very helpful when working as a carpenter. If you know the proper math formulas you can often build things with less information and therefore quicker. Say I am on the ground and you are in the air nailing cut to fit pieces of plywood on a gable end of a roof. If I know how to figure the rise of the roof over the span of the pieces of plywood I will never have to ask you to measure the height where the new board meets the last installed board then ask you to measure over 4 feet and level up that line and measure the height of the cut at that point....I will have already cut the board and you dont have to stand there on a scaffold staring at my ass while i cut the board because by the time you install one I already figured and cut the next. Being able to do things right the first time counts alot in construction and if you can do that then your boss wont have any problem justifying that raise you just asked him for.
It could, but unless it's extremely uneaven (like natural slate) just lay down the pad and install the floor. Above all, read the instructions that come with the floor.
This is not a good idea without using a cement /mortar board underlayment.
When covering existing walls with structurally sound surfaces, you would typically use regular gypsum board, also known as drywall. This type of drywall can be easily installed over existing walls to provide a smooth and even finish. Make sure to choose the appropriate thickness depending on the application and follow local building codes for proper installation.
If you are talking about a fiber cement backer board, the manufacturer of the board should provide the answer you are after. I am currently using Hardiplank to reside my house, and the manufacturer recommends attacheing the TyVek house wrap to the wood sheathing per TyVeks recommended process. Hope this helps.
Gypsum is really found all over the world, mostly in Britain or Italy.
It could.
Let it dry absolutely completely and then paint over it at least twice.I am assuming you are not going to leave it untreated.Maybe I am misunderstanding you. I am assuming you mean wall-construction board in 4x8 foot sheets that is used for wallboarding? (Gypsum board)Or am I wrong? You may want to clarify what you are referring to if it is something different.
Use GRP board - it bends. Set the plane the board is to follow by constructing a timber frame. Screw the Board to the frame. Voila. Finish as usual. If you can't get GRP - (made by British Gypsum and others) you can cut the plasterboard into strips and make a multifaceted facsimile of a curve and then plaster over the board to form a smooth line.
Gypsum is a mineral that was formed by layers of sediment , fine particles, that were deposited over a period of time, and then subjected to geologic forces.
installed means to put in. I installed a heater in my car. I put in a heater in my car.
The value of gypsum rock can vary depending on its quality, purity, and market demand. Generally, gypsum rock is used in the construction industry for making plaster, drywall, and cement. Prices can range from a few dollars per ton for low-grade gypsum to over $100 per ton for high-quality gypsum.
Ceramic tile can be installed over any non-compressible solid, non-flexible surface, but in areas of high moisture or possible water penetration, a cementious or water impermeable backer should be used to prevent rot.
In Mexico, there is a cave called, the "Cave of Crystals" which has over 55 tons of gypsum.
I heard the announcement over the school intercom. The couple installed an intercom so they could monitor the nursery.
