The guns are the same, the pellets are the difference. .22 are larger and slower and fly straighter and have more knock down power. Personally I prefer .22 pellet guns and rifles. I'm not all hung up on speed. I prefer accuracy and hitting power.

Would you be able to use a pellet grain that's 11.57 on a gun that takes about 7or8 grains?

I assume you are asking about air guns, if so then it would be helpful if you stated the model. Most air guns can accept all weights of pellet grains as long as the pellet is the correct caliber. In other words you can not use a .22 pellet in a .177 caliber pellet gun but you can use different weight pellets as long as they are .177 for that gun.

just the sheer size of the .22 caliber pellet will do more damage than a .177 pellet. Here are the sizes of pellets today that are on the market. .177, .20, .22, .25, 9mm, 45 cal and 50 cal. The last 3 are usually restricted to PCP air rifles. (Big Bore)

Is there such a thing as higher than 177 Cal on a BB gun?

Lets get something straight. There are BB guns / Rifles and there are Pellet guns / Rifles and there are a few BB & pellet rifle combinations. Most BB guns are .177 Caliber, there are a very few that are .22 caliber. Pellet gun & Rifles come in .177, .20, .22, .25, 9 mm, 40 Caliber, and 50 Caliber. The last 3 calibers are usually high powered air rifles in the PCP class of rifles (PreCharged Pneumatic) they require a special pump or SCUBA tank to charge them. So Yes there are calibers much larger than .177

What is the heaviest pellet for a pellet gun?

It all depends on the bore size, and if you really mean GUN as in "gun or rifle." The larges Pellet bore is 50 caliber and that would be a Air Venturi .50 Cal, 275 Grains, Solid Core, Soft Lead, Round Nose pellet. If it's just a pistol it would be a .22 caliber pellet and that would most likely be a Predator Big Boy Senior .22 cal, 28.5 Grains, Domed. Remember air gun/rifle pellets come in all sizes. .177, .20, .22, .25, .9mm, 357mm, .45cal and 50 Cal.
