Yes you can watch movies on an ipod nano. The 6th Generation (Latest) you can't but the 5th Generation you can watch movies as long as you buy them on iTunes. You also can buy or Rent TV Shows. But it does take up more memory than songs.
If want to put DVD movies on iPod nano, you can use Aimersoft Mac DVD to iPod converter: http://www.aimersoft.com/mac-DVD-to-iPod-converter.HTML
The iPod Nano (6th generation) does not play video.
Depending on what generation the iPod is, it can do different things. The fourth generation can do the following: 1. Listen to Music 2. Watch Movies that you can buy off of iTunes 3. Watch TV Shows 4. Watch movies that you rent off iTunes 5. Watch music videos 6. Look at Photos that you can put on your iPod 7. Watch Podcasts which you can buy off iTunes 8. Play Games 9. And more... On the fifth generation nano you can do all of the above and you can capture video on your iPod.
