Yes, you can but the skin might scratch. The reason that you need a double-ended stick for a bodhran is so you can make triplets- using a normal stick would not be capable of that. At the end of the day, if it is a stick that doesnt dent the skin of the drum while playing it, you could just play a simple beat with a normal stick.
