You can carry cigarettes (& cigars) on an airplane however there is no smoking allowed on board.
Yes except you can not smoke on the airplane or any public transportation. You might want to hide it because security might find out and take it away.
Normally yes, but you want to check prior to travel what is the allowance permitted when entering the country you are visiting. For instance in Europe most of the countries allow 200 cigarettes (10 packs of 20 cigarettes) but in Singapore you are only allowed 40 cigarettes (2 packs of 20 cigarettes).

You're ok, as long as you don't soke them on a plane

Yes, you can take cigarettes on airplanes, but you cannot smoke them on airplanes. Because an airplane is filled with pressurized air, there is no way to clear smoke from a cabin. Also, disposing of a cigarette in a trash can could start a fire that produces toxic smoke and disables control systems, thus causing the plane to crash. Some say the TSA or your local airport security agency will confiscate any cigarettes you attempt to take aboard, but this is simply not the case. As a smoker, I have never been questioned about having cigarettes in my purse or in the carry-on bag. I do; however, put any extra packs in the checked bag.
