Yes, as long as it has the right choke for slugs (cylinder or improved cylinder), the vents will make no difference to the slug, and will reduce recoil slightly.

Pellets or slugs. shotguns usually shoot shot or pellets, but you can shoot slugs. in Indiana we use a shotgun to hunt deer and use shotgun slugs, better to use a barrel with no choke in it. cylinder bore preferred.

Should only sabot slugs be used in a rifeled shotgun barrell.?

You should check with the barrels manufacturer about it's ratings, but I've never seen a slug barrel that wouldn't handle lead slugs. If you're talking about using shot shells...Since shot is contained in a wad, it never actually touches the walls of the barrel as it travels down it. The shot won't damage the riffling in the barrel, but since a slug barrel doesn't have the same choke as a shot barrel, and the wad in a shot shell isn't designed to spin, the shot pattern is going to be messed up.It's not a good idea.

Can you shoot a slug out of a regular shotgun?

Yes and no. The yes comes from simple fact, if the projectile can move down the barrel, it can be fired. I've seen .221 Fireballs fired out of a 7TCU barrel. The no is because you cannot do it well. In effect, if you shoot a slug down a smooth bore shotgun barrel, you will have little in the way of accuracy. Slugs should be shot from a slug barrel, and shot from a smooth bore.

Can you fire slugs through a shot barrel?

Yes. Rifled slugs are intended to be fired through a smoothbore barrel. Sabot slugs are intended to be fired through rifled barrels.
