Yes, but, the results will be dismal at best.
Slugs. You CAN shoot lead bird shot in a rifled barrel but it will not give you good or consistant patterns.
The Remington Mohawk 48 is a semi-automatic shotgun, and while it is primarily designed for bird and small game hunting, there is no specific slug barrel made for this model. However, you can use rifled slugs in the standard barrel, provided it has a smooth bore. For optimal accuracy with slugs, many shooters prefer to use a shotgun with a dedicated slug barrel or a fully rifled barrel. Always check your local regulations and manufacturer's guidelines when using slugs in a shotgun.
Yes you can, I own a Remington 870 wingmaster with a 27" smoothbore barrel and it shoots rifled 1oz slugs all day, and fairly accurately. The only thing you cannot shoot through it is sabbot slugs but the nice thing about having a gun like yours is that you can go from slugs to 00 buck shot to bird shot without changing barrels. Good luck and happy shooting
Mossberg 500A "combo" with 28" accuchoke vent rib barrel and 20"rifled slug barrel. About $300 U.S.
Yes, but the rifling will spread out your pattern more than you want.

You could eaither shoot dove with a 20 gauge shotgun or a 12 gauge shotgun. You should also use a bird shot shells
i have a remington 870 wingmaster its my grandpas and it has 3 barrels the slug , the bird shot barrel and the muzzeloader barrel it takes a 209 primer just like the the regular muzzeloader its very interesting
yes, all shotguns are designed first to fire bird shot! some cannot fire "low brass" shells though, they are just lightly loaded shotshells
I usually use 1/4 on the bottom barrel (fires first) and 1/2 on the top barrel. This is because when the bird is fleeing you, the first barrel fires a bigger swarm. If i miss, the top barrel fires a more compact swarm for longer range.
The additional 2" of barrel may assist the shooter in swinging the barrel to follow the bird when shooting. Originally, the additional 2" would ensure that all of the black powder would have the chance to burn, increasing the range of the shot. This is no longer a consideration with smokeless powders.
