It i possible to have a period and not ovulate. This is called anovulatory bleeding. Women on Birth Control pill do not ovulate and still have a period which is triggered by drop in estrogen and progesterone hormones when they stop taking the pill at the end of the month.

A woman who is not on birth control can have anovulatory bleeding if she does not ovulate as a result of thyroid problems, low progesterone levels, polycyclic ovarian syndrome or perimenopause.

Infertility is often associated with having anovulatory cycles. The best way to detect this is by analyzing ovulation charts of their basal body temperature. An ovulation chart of a woman who has her period but does not ovulate does not have a temperature shift at mid cycle, but the temperature stays the same through the cycle.

Yes, it is possible to have a menstrual cycle without ovulation, a condition known as anovulation. Anovulation can occur for various reasons such as hormonal imbalances, stress, or certain medical conditions. Menstruating without ovulation can affect fertility but doesn't necessarily mean there is a serious underlying issue.
