Dimple piercings are classified by most experienced professional body piercers as "stupid piercings".
Piercings that transverse muscle are basically issues waiting to happen, they are prone to healing issues, rejection issues and other long term physical issues effecting the bodies ability to function correctly. Wise professional body piercers won't do them because of the long term problems the client can have down the road. nerve damage, severing or transversing saliva ducts, long term scarring and permanent muscle damage are just too great. Any piercer willing to do these clearly doesn't care about the clients best interests and is purely out for the money and nothing more.
Common sense needs to prevail when choosing a piercing, use yours and ask many more questions before you accept an unknown fate. Professional body piercers are good at what we do, but there are limits and not every body is built or structured the same. So with that the risk of doing damage to the fine under lying structures is something that needs to be considered. Once a structure in the body is damaged, like a cheek tendon or nerve, it's damaged and can't be fixed. This may sound cold but it is the truth coming from an actual professional body piercer. Think twice and research it to the endth degree before you damage what cant be fixed.

A bump around your dimple piercing is the body guarding the piercing, the surrounding tissue toughens as the piercing heals. This will ease off as the piercing heals, ensure you are rinsing the piercing daily under running water (best done in the shower after shampoo and conditioner as these tend to irritate the piercing). Should you have serious concerns contact your body piercer and let him/her have a look at it.
