About 80%-90% of chlamydia infections and up to 80% of gonorrhea infections in women are asymptomatic. These infections are detected primarily through screening. The symptoms associated with PID are vague, so 85% of women with PID delay seeking medical care, thereby increasing the risk for infertility and ectopic pregnancy.
