Grout is not toxic. Grout sealers and adhesives can be toxic but not the grout itself. Tami Barker www.mosaicforms.com Mosaic Art Instructor and Creator
Not JUST a grout no. You can get a cement that will also work as a grout but a pure grout would not have the adhesion required to stick the tiles to the wall properly, you should not use it as a cement.
You can. It is less gritty but it works. Edit - While this is true, it's important to understand the wall grout is designed for thinner grout lines, so if you use it on the floor, make sure your grout lines are thin. Otherwise, the grout will crack.
The obvious answer is sanded grout has sand. But the in depth answer has many differences. Sanded grout which is the most common, can be used in a grout joint from 1/8" to 1/2" (and larger but check the grout). Sanded grout scratches many tile like glass. Non sanded grout can only be used on joints 1/8" or less. Non sanded grout is typically seen on marble and granite tile, many wall tile, and all glass tile.
Depending on where you purchase the grout, you can actually have the grout colored to any color of your choice. Like paint, you can take in a color swatch and get the grout dyed to match the decor.
if your grout had not been seal then it will be hard to clean and if you clean with acid the grout will be change color.

Color of what grout lines? I wouldn't grout colorant (only aquamix) works good for that if grout is not sealed.A far as ceramic tiles go Ive never seen a kind where acid will do anything good.
You can but it wont look very nice, if you use grout you get a smoother joint and you have lots of color choises.
Tile grout can change color due to factors such as dirt accumulation, mold or mildew growth, staining from spills or chemicals, or fading from exposure to sunlight. Regular cleaning and maintenance can help prevent discoloration.
It depends on what look you are going for. A white or beige grout would provide a nice contrast. Black or dark gray also looks nice if you prefer a more solid color look.
Grout can dry different colors due to inconsistent mixing, uneven drying conditions, or the use of different batches of grout. It can also be affected by the absorption rate of the tiles or surfaces it is being applied to, resulting in variations in color.
You can get grout stain. It will let you make it darker. If you want to change the grout altogether then it can be easily removed, but time consuming. Simple grout removal tools are available at local home stores. Also a oscillating multifunction power tool will make quick work of it. Then re-grout the joints in whatever color you choose. Grout charts are available where grout is sold. Remember grout will look darker when being installed and will dry lighter. Be very careful of making sure everything is clean. Vacuum out old joints with a wet/dry shop vac. If you use a power tool to remove grout have someone follow behind it with a shop vac. Or you will have dust everywhere.
